Driveway Concrete Repair. Commercial concrete goes through a lot of wear and tear often causing its durability to reach its breaking point. With all the use of commercial concrete on a daily basis, cracks, potholes or other damage can form. At GP Building Restoration we inspect the site with damage and provide an estimate of repair or complete removal and replacement.

Brick Replacement. Masonry is commonly used for walls and buildings. Brick and concrete block are the most common types of masonry in use in industrialized nations and may be either weight-bearing or a veneer. Concrete blocks, especially those with hollow cores, offer various possibilities in masonry construction. They generally provide great compressive strength, and are best suited to structures with light transverse loading when the cores remain unfilled. Filling some or all of the cores with concrete or concrete with steel reinforcement (typically rebar) offers much greater tensile and lateral strength to structures.

Balcony Rehabilitation. Exposure to natural elements, plus age, significantly affects the condition and appearance of balconies. VIP Building Restoration specialists can identify the need for repair, through assessment of concrete deterioration, corrosion of railing supports, water penetration, spalling and cracks.
Caulking Replacement. Whether a condominium is a townhome or a high-rise, replacing exterior sealants before they fail is one of the most important contributors to maintaining a healthy building envelope. An estimated 90 per cent of air and water leakage occurs at one per cent of a building’s sealant locations (i.e. vulnerable sites such as terminations, transitions and penetrations). Making sure that this one per cent of a condominium’s exterior is properly sealed is critical.
Balcony Waterproofing. Balconies, terraces and walkways like all other parts of a property, they require maintenance. Most of these balconies, terraces and walkways consist of concrete elements where the lack of an effective waterproof membrane will allow, water to penetrate and cause deterioration. GP Building Restoration has developed a number of high quality terrace and balcony waterproofing and coating systems to avoid and solve this problem.

Steel lintel, replacement over windows/doors. A lintel or I-beam is a piece of steel that spans an opening (e.g., a door or window) and supports the masonry above it. Over time as steel lintels and I-beams age, they rust and swell and deflect (i.e., become wavy) and create growing pressure within the masonry wall. This process is known as rust-jacking and if left unchecked can crack apart mortar and heave bricks out of alignment. The forces exerted upon the masonry by a rusting piece of steel are not unlike a nutcracker exerting pressure on a walnut. As the pressure grows, even the hardest masonry (or nut) blows apart.
Brick replacement. Masonry restoration is the phrase used for working with any form of masonry on an existing building or home that does not encompass actually building it. Restoration runs the gambit from tearing the masonry down and rebuilding to cleaning and sealing.

Brick & Block Replacement. When bricks or concrete blocks are damaged by impacts, water infiltration or age, selecting a block or brick masonry team to remove and replace them will protect your building and maintain its integrity.

Waterproofing will protect your home from foundation leaks that can happen as a result of hydrostatic pressure. Your foundation is poured concrete, and concrete is a porous material that is susceptible to moisture. Without proper protection, your foundation is exposed to soil moisture, hydrostatic pressure, and soil gasses. As moisture gathers around the foundation of your new home, hydrostatic pressure forces water through the porous concrete, causing cracks in the foundation and water in your basement.

Brick and Stone Work. Stone masonry repair differs entirely from brick or block masonry, where every layer must lie in a straight line, where there must be square and level units and mortar joints that are uniform. The main reasons for building with stone are its beauty, endurance, strength, and mass.

Foundation Crack Repair. Cracks occurring in basement floor slabs can typically occur over time due to the settling of the building, poor sub-surface drainage, and concrete shrinkage. Leaks coming up through the floor are consistent with older homes because the building techniques usually did not specify a substantial amount of gravel to be placed below the floor slab. Also, floor slabs were not poured as thick and years of coming into contact with ground water can exaggerate the problem because of erosion, further thinning out the slab.
